Derby 101

What is Derby 101? Derby 101 is a course that is taught by CCRD veterans that covers all of the Minimum Skills Requirements (MSR) required to participate as part of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).

Derby 101 is open to skaters of all skill levels, 18+ and has a cost of $65 per session. It includes 12 weeks of lessons, focused on learning how to play roller derby and skate safely and effectively.

Practice is held twice a week; Sundays from 10am-noon and Tuesdays from 7-9pm. We give you a cute flashy pink shirt to wear that identifies you as a new skater!

Gear requirements:

*Skates; we wear quad speed skates to play roller derby.

*Kneepads; these are so important, don't skimp on your kneepads! They are spendy but worth it.

*Elbow pads & wrist guards

*Helmet - we wear skating or Hockey helmets.

*Mouth guard: We recommend SISU brand because they are low profile, easy to wear, easy to talk with and you can drink water while wearing it.

We do have a limited selection of loaner gear available for $20/month to help get you started (first come first served!)

** We offer scholarships for income restricted and historically marginalized groups, let me know if you need more information!**

Our training program requires no previous experience and is comprised of general, athletic on-skates training that will teach you the fundamentals of skating, safety, and roller derby strategy and rules.
